Shalom Karunya Trust is a non profitable charitable organization which promoted and managed by 5 trustees registered No. IIV/1997 It is situated at Nellimmood in Mallappally Taluk, a place from Pathanamthitta District. Since 1997 Shalom Karunya Bhavan has been an integral part of chain care for people with mental illness in Kerala. It is under the control of Orphanage Control Board, Trivandrum and Social Justice Department Pathanamthitta.
In 2015-2016 we protect and rehabilitate 150 mental male patients those who are wandering through the street without lookafter any belongings . We are providing them with shelter, food, medicines and also love and care. We are not only providing the basic needs of them but also equip them to self employed through occupational therapy and other activities. Our main goal to bring them before the society as a normal one to lead a social life.
Our routine commences with prayer, exercise, tea, cleaning, bathing, breakfast, medicine, prayer, lunch ,rest, tea, entertainment time , night prayer, dinner medicine and rest.
We have 28 staff including Psychiatrist , Physician, Nurses, Social workers, Care takers, etc. We conduct our staff meetings in every month. This helps us to work together for the betterment of the patients. For equipping our patients we have occupational therapy under this unit Weaving, Rosary making, farming, organic farming, candle making etc.
Those who need better care and treatment we consult Pushpagiri Medical college hospital Thiruvalla, Alappuzha Vandanam Medical College, Kottayam Govt. Medical college, Taluk Hospital, Malllappally, Changanacherry Kozhencherry, and other private hospitals.
For the entertainment of our patients we conduct games like Chess, Foot ball snake and ladder, Shuttle bat, etc. Orphanage fest 2015-2016 our inmates participated in may competition and they got overall championship. This made them to increase their confident level. At the same time we conduct programs and festivals like Onam, Christmas etc.
The sources of our organization is donations from all walks of life people from nearby places, well wishers such as institutions, schools, colleges, churches and other organization etc. The helping hand of people support our organization growth.
Our mission is to provide shelter with food, clothing and medicine to the homeless and disabled from the street.
